Segway is a minor character in the expanded Wild Cards series.
History[]
The boyfriend of Adesina Pond, Segway found himself in a hotbed of activity one night at a rock show when the venue suffered a terrorist attack. Concert-goers began to panic as flames started spreading through the hall, and would have died had it not been for the intervention of roadie Freddie Fullerton who used his ace power to blast an escape route through a wall. While Adesina took to the air to aid the roadie, Segway began shepherding people out through the fresh opening. He continued assisting injured and disoriented people on into the night and assisted Freddie and the NYPD further when nats, driven into a chemically-induced psychosis by inhaled fumes, began to riot and attack jokers in the park. When he crossed paths with Freddie again days after the incident, Segway greeted him as "Amplifier."
Wild Card Traits[]
Segway's lower legs terminate in a pair of wheels connected by an axle. He is able to compress the axle, causing the wheels to join together, and the whole locomotive mutation itself can propel him at high speed.
Appearance[]
Segway is an adolescent joker whose lower legs terminate in a pair of wheels connected by an axle. He wears kilts to clothe his lower body as his legs are unable to accommodate conventional pants. He wears an NYPD police helmet (that the police allowed him to keep) with a "Jokertown Mob!" sticker covering the police shield logo.
