Dragon Huntress is a fictional character in the Wild Cards series of books.
Born in 1996, Rachel was only 11 years old when American Hero first aired in 2007. She approached the show with indefatigable enthusiasm, and although producers baulked at the idea of a pre-pubescent child among the contestants, many were disinclined to put up much argument with an ace who could manifest a huge fire-breathing dragon on a whim.
By age 19, Rachel had developed something of an ace-for-hire career in her downtime from being a student. Her ability to conjure up giant monsters led to a renaissance of monster movies in the film industry, with Dragon Girl providing a significant portion of the special effects. In between film calls, she also provided occasional services in search and rescue, especially off the coast where Puffy was invaluable rescuing people from stricken boats.
Wild Card TraitsEdit
Rachel is able to make her stuffed animals, or "stuffies" into real, giant versions of themselves. She retains a telepathic link to her construct. Dragon Girl is only able to animate one stuffie at a time. Her favorite is Puffy, a dragon, which she turns into a 50 ft, fire breathing version of itself.
Some of her other stuffies include:
- Tusker: an elephant
- Shamo: an orca
- A centipede
- An octopus
- A pelican
- A penguin
Rachel has a decidedly ordinary appearance with her frizzy hair and taste for clothes that run into well-worn and mundane jeans and tee-shirts. She wears glassed that are out of fashion, and is seldom without her backpack full of stuffed toy animals.
Rachel is immediately likeable, probably in part due to her unpretentious attitude amid the vanity of Hollywood's elite. At heart she is a geek, and has a genuine interest in doing the right thing.
- Rachel reads every book with "Dragon" in the title and is a huge fan of Anne McCaffrey.
