Coleman Hubbard is a fictional character from the Wild Cards series of books.
Originally the unimaginative Coleman Hubbard used his power to earn promotions at work or to get laid. He joined the Masons when they were still controlled by Marc Balsam. He was still new to the organization when the Astronomer took over by burning down their temple and killing most inside. Hubbard begged for his life and the Astronomer spared him.
The Astronomer taught Hubbard what his power could really do. He quit his job, and lived full-time as a minion for the Egyptian Freemasons, when he wasn't using his power to satisfy his perverted new urges.
While trying to recover the peripatetic singularity shifter to power the Astronomer's Shakti device, Hubbard attempted to use his power to control Modular Man and had his mind destroyed. He is now a resident at New York's Bellevue hospital.
Wild Card Traits[]
Hubbard can read minds and also mind-control his victims. His power does not work on everyone he meets, some people, like police captain Mark McPherson, having "slippery minds" in his opinion.
Appearance[]
Coleman Hubbard has a lot of scar tissue around his torso that he received in the fire of the Masons old downtown New York temple.
Personality[]
Coleman is a self-interested man. He is not among the most trusted of the Astronomer's people and resents having been left to die when the old Masonic temple was destroyed.
