Abdul-Alim is a minor character in the Wild Cards series of books.

History[]

On the eve of Egypt's inclusion into the Caliphate, an assassin targeted and killed the Caliph, Nur al-Allah. The killing was thought to have been an attack from the Twisted Fists, so when Abdul seized control of the Caliphate he immediately set about ordering the extermination of all jokers in Egypt. United Nations Secretary-General J.C. Jayewardene arrived to try and diffuse the situation, but on advice from Bahir, Abdul had Jayewardene captured and moved to the burial chamber in Egypt's Great Pyramids.

Abdul was upset by news that a group of American aces had killed his most powerful enforcer and routed his forces in Egypt. While still gripped in a state of distress he issued an order to Bahir for Jaywardene's execution. Bahir teleported away to deal with Jaywardene, but upon his return minutes later he grabbed Abdul, teleported to a busy Cairo marketplace, and decapitated the despot in front of gawking onlookers.

Personality[]

Abdul is a petulant and temperamental man. Despite being positioned to claim power over much of the Middle East he is notably given to foolish actions, thus giving rise to his common nickname, "Abdul the Idiot."
